There are 3 main types of door lock available with three main functions:
- Lever/lever operation. Depress the lever from the inside or outside to release the latch. The locking and sealing points are engaged by lifting the lever. One turn of the key throws the deadbolt and locks the mechanism.
- Key operated. Doors can only be opened from the outside using a key. The deadlock, locking and sealing points are engaged and disengaged by two complete turns of the key. A fixed pad handle will normally be used on the outside.
- Split spindle – the external pad can be used to engage and disengage locking points but not the latch. The key needs to be used to operate the latch from the outside.
